Sophie, come on, confidence! Listen, at the risk of tootin my own horn, I'm a "hot" guy. And I gotta tell ya, I generally don't go for the supermodel types, simply becuz of their superficiality. Hate to stereotype, but it is what it is. 9 times times out of 10, I go for the "average girl", becuz she can make me smile WITH my clothes on. At the end of the day, it all comes down to personality. And it sounds like ur comin from a pretty genuine place with this case of like. So make him laugh. If he smiles, you'll smile.
