I want to build my bunny a new home?

My rabbit is not allowed indoors. Currently is in a wire cage on the back porch. I want him to have a larger and nicer looker habitat. I was wondering if it would be okay to put him in a homeade pin. Similar to what some dogs live in but a little different. The bottom would be bare and the edges would be half a foot underground so that they wouldnt get dug up. We dont have no grass though, so would it be okay for him to be on the dirt? It would have wooden stakes for support and also a wooden roof. I want to get him a girlfriend too, so its probably going to have a wall in the middle. Any problems with this crazy idea? Please help. If this is not a good idea is there anything you would suggest?
